Global Technology Architect 

Role Summary 

A senior enterprise architecture role responsible for shaping the target technology landscape, enabling cloud transformation, defining database and application strategy, and influencing technology decisions across application teams and CxO-level stakeholders. 

  Role Purpose 

Owns the enterprise technology landscape, interconnects with the hosting portfolio, and partners closely with infrastructure experts and technology experts for business applications. Defines and continuously evolves infrastructure and platform architecture, sets intentional standards for solutions and platforms, and establishes non-functional requirements and technical direction so technology choices translate into reliable, measurable business outcomes. The role provides enterprise architecture leadership across cloud transformation, database strategy, application strategy, infrastructure, security, automation and AI-enabled technology evolution. 

  Key Responsibilities 

• Define the target technology landscape and target architectures and build multi-year roadmaps in alignment with ITI and IT(x) Tech Experts. 

• Lead Enterprise Architecture direction across platforms, infrastructure, cloud, security, automation, database strategy and application strategy. 

• Drive Cloud Transformation strategy by shaping scalable, secure and cost-effective adoption patterns across cloud and foundation platforms. 

• Define and govern Database Strategy covering standardisation, modernisation, lifecycle planning, resilience, performance and platform alignment. 

• Shape Application Strategy by influencing application teams on hosting choices, platform adoption, integration patterns and architecture guardrails. 

• Contribute to the Architecture Vision; assess the baseline technology architecture and design transition architectures to reach the target state. 

• Provide inputs to Opportunities & Solutions and Migration Planning so strategy becomes a prioritised, sequenced, value-driven delivery plan. 

• Align enterprise standards, lean guardrails and the approved technology catalogue across IT(x) Tech Experts to ensure consistent, compliant delivery. 

• Establish non-functional requirements and architecture guardrails that enable decentralised decisions within clear boundaries. 

• Apply Architecture Principles and EA standards; drive compliance and support implementation governance. 

• Submit recommendations and decision proposals to the Group Architecture Board to enable global decision-making. 

• Modernise and consolidate the technology landscape to reduce complexity and technical debt while driving cost and performance improvements. 

• Identify gaps between current and target technology architecture and prioritise sequenced remediation. 

• Evolve standards, patterns and reference models, curate the Tech Radar, and channel lessons learned into Architecture Change Management. 

• Evaluate candidate business applications and workloads for migration to Foundation Platforms in alignment with ITI and IT(x) Tech Experts. 

• Develop and maintain architecture models, record architectural decisions through ADRs, and keep related artefacts current and accessible. 

• Influence wider application teams and CxO-level stakeholders through clear architecture narratives, executive-ready recommendations and pragmatic decision support.

  Experience, Skills and Qualifications 

• 15+ years of experience across Infrastructure, Cloud, Security and Automation in complex enterprise technology environments. 

• Strong Enterprise Architecture background with proven ability to define architecture principles, target states, technology standards and transition roadmaps. 

• TOGAF certified or equivalent enterprise architecture certification and practical architecture governance experience. 

• Excellent understanding of AI and its application to technology modernisation, automation, operational efficiency and developer productivity. 

• Deep understanding of cloud transformation, platform engineering, infrastructure services, security-by-design and enterprise operating models. 

• Proven experience in database and application strategy including rationalisation, modernisation, migration planning and lifecycle governance. 

• Excellent communicator with the ability to simplify complex architecture topics for engineering teams, business stakeholders
