Position offers an annual salary of $132,579.00.

- Daimler Truck North America LLC seeks Computational Simulation Engineer III - Handling based out of our office at 4747 N Channel Ave, Portland, OR 97217. This hybrid role requires working from home and on-site at the Portland office, so candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance of office. Position requires up to 10% international and domestic travel annually. Job duties: Act as a technical lead in the complete vehicle model building process that combines both multi-body dynamic models with finite element elastic bodies. Focus on vehicle handling, with additional focus on electronic stability control and braking simulations. Support design engineers to ensure their designs are meeting performance targets prior to physical validation. Recommend feasible solutions by understanding design problems and defining the appropriate physics models and load cases. Solve analyses and presenting results to guide design solutions with analysis-based recommendations, while presenting results at both technical and management levels of detail accurately. Work cross-functionally with vehicle/component design engineers, digital mock-up teams, vehicle test engineers, and other simulation teams to build entire vehicle models, provide load collectives to support component development, and compare and correlate simulation and test results. Act as a subject-matter expert in vehicle handling and participating in cross-functional work streams on the topic. Work as a contributing member in a team, mentoring junior members, and helping prioritize work. Communicate project status, simulation data requirements, and escalating issues in a transparent, proactive, and professional manner.
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in related occupation.
- Must have experience with: Conducting multibody simulation (SIMPACK/ADAMS) and Finite Element Modelling (NASTRAN); Time Series, Frequency Domain Analysis; Technical communication and presentations with PowerPoint; Utilizing 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD); Programming in Python, Java, and MATLAB.
- Position requires up to 10% international and domestic travel annually.
