Dealer Credit Senior Manager

Inside the Role

At Daimler Truck Financial Services, the Dealer Credit Manager plays a critical role in supporting business growth while ensuring sound credit risk management. This position leads a team responsible for the underwriting, administration, monitoring, and servicing of dealer wholesale financing relationships in US and CAN. The role provides strategic credit leadership, partners with key stakeholders across the organization, and helps drive portfolio performance, operational excellence, and talent development while maintaining compliance with established credit policies and regulatory requirements.

What You Drive at DTFS

  • Lead and develop a team of credit analysts and financial auditors responsible for dealer credit operations and portfolio management.
  • Oversee a diverse credit portfolio that includes wholesale financing, lease and pledge structures, capital loans, equipment financing, real estate transactions, and related credit products.
  • Provide credit risk leadership and serve as a key contributor to credit decision-making processes, including participation on the Local Credit Committee.
  • Analyze complex credit transactions and prepare recommendations for approval authorities that balance business opportunities with prudent risk management.
  • Partner with dealers, customers, OEM partners, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to develop financing solutions, support business initiatives, and mitigate risk.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and proactively identify, manage, and resolve higher-risk credit situations through appropriate workout and restructuring strategies.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance credit effectiveness, improve operational efficiency, and support profitable portfolio growth.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members through performance management, training, succession planning, and ongoing feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field OR minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • 4+ years in commercial credit, dealer credit, financial services, and/or risk management.
  • Experience evaluating complex commercial credit transactions and managing credit risk within a financial services environment.
  • Working knowledge of collections, portfolio management, and workout strategies.
  • Strong analytical, financial analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively with executive leaders, customers, and business partners.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Must have a strong understanding of dealership operations and commercial vehicle financing.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Advanced degree such as an MBA, Master's in Finance, or related field.
  • Extensive experience within commercial vehicle, automotive, captive finance, or dealer financial services organizations.
  • Experience serving on credit committees or holding delegated credit authority.
  • Deep knowledge of wholesale floorplan lending and dealer finance operations.
  • Experience managing complex dealer restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and distressed credit situations.
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic projects that improve portfolio performance, operational efficiency, or customer experience.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to commercial lending and financial services.
