Strategic Finance Controller – Business Cases, Pricing & Make/Buy

Inside the Role

Structure and lead the process for Make or Buy decisions across AMS, including but not limited to AMS business cases, part costing and transfer (intercompany) pricing. Incorporate Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics tools from Best Finance and other sources. Responsible for special projects as assigned. Serve as a key player in the external business quoting process. Advise management on strategic decisions based on analysis performed on business cases. This position is a unique combination of working with internal and external peers to grow our company culture of Inclusion and Belonging inside and outside of the walls of our offices.

Position offers a starting salary range of $104,000 - $133,000 USD  

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Lead AMS Make versus Buy strategies and analyses, including cost modeling, profitability assessments, sourcing alternatives, and recommendation development aligned with AMS growth objectives.
  • Develop and present strategic business cases, investment analyses, and operational footprint recommendations supported by financial modeling, scenario analysis, and sensitivity assessments involving sourcing alternatives, tariffs, carrying costs, royalties, transfer pricing, and operational costs.
  • Lead profitability and value chain analysis across products, programs, and business segments while partnering with Pricing, Purchasing, Operations, and Remanufacturing teams to develop sourcing strategies, align Make versus Buy methodologies, and identify pricing and portfolio optimization opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional decision governance processes, facilitating business case reviews, stakeholder alignment, documentation of key decisions, and tracking of approved actions.
  • Advise management on strategic decisions based on business case evaluations, financial analysis, profitability assessments, and operational recommendations.
  • Own AMS product costing methodologies, cost model development, financial validation, and resolution of complex cost, pricing, and profitability issues.
  • Own and maintain AMS transfer pricing methodologies, governance, approval workflows, and implementation across legal entities and remanufacturing locations.
  • Lead financial evaluation and pricing support for external business quotations, including cost validation, profitability assessment, and strategic pricing recommendations.
  • Own the development, maintenance, and governance of AMS pricing approval processes, documentation standards, and supporting financial controls.
  • Serve as AMS CI Champion and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance financial transparency, workflow efficiency, governance, data quality, and decision support.
  • Support process standardization, ERP system improvements, and benchmarking activities for controlling and accounting processes across all AMS locations.
  • Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business analytics, data science, or a related field from an accredited university/college
  • Four years in strategic finance, operations controlling, financial planning and analysis, product costing, purchasing finance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial and operational data, develop strategic recommendations, and communicate executive-level insights effectively to stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing financial models, strategic business cases, and scenario analyses to support executive decision-making.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative workplace required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate, decision-ready analysis within established deadlines.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, business analytics, data science, or a related field
  • Experience with product costing, profitability analysis, transfer pricing, pricing methodology, or Make versus Buy analysis
  • Experience supporting investment decisions, sourcing strategies, operational footprint analyses, or external business quotations
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional governance forums or decision-making committees and documenting decisions and follow-up actions
  • Experience with Business Intelligence, ERP, financial modeling, workflow automation, or data visualization tools
  • Experience in aftermarket parts and services, manufacturing, remanufacturing, or commercial vehicle operations
  • Plant or operations controlling experience
