The M365 Solution Architect is responsible for defining and governing the enterprise architecture for communication and collaboration platforms. The role drives technology strategy, solution design, platform modernization, and governance across Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and enterprise collaboration services.
The architect ensures solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with business requirements while maintaining global standards and architectural consistency.
Architecture Governance & Leadership
- Serve as design authority for UCC-related initiatives.
- Own architectural blueprints, standards, and reference models.
- Provide technical leadership during major programs and escalations.
- Mentor engineers and solution specialists on architectural best practices.
Architecture & Strategy
- Define target architecture, roadmaps, and technology standards for collaboration platforms.
- Develop multi-year modernization strategies for communication and collaboration services.
Establish platform design principles and reference architectures.
Solution Design
- Lead architecture design for Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, enterprise messaging, voice, conferencing, and collaboration workloads.
- Define integration patterns across identity, security, compliance, and productivity platforms.
Review and approve solution designs impacting collaboration services.
Governance & Compliance
- Define architectural standards for messaging, collaboration, information management, retention, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure policy alignment and regulatory adherence.
Participate in architecture review boards and technical governance forums.
Technology Lifecycle Management
- Evaluate emerging technologies and establish adoption strategies.
- Drive platform rationalization, modernization, and technical debt reduction.
- Support strategic transformation programs and migration initiatives.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise IT environments.
- Strong experience in Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, Teams Voice, and enterprise collaboration services.
- Expertise in Entra ID, Conditional Access, and identity-integrated collaboration architectures.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, retention, DLP, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong architecture documentation, governance, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience with PowerShell automation and Microsoft Graph API.
