Sr. Transportation Procurement Specialist

Objective of the position:

Be part of a high-impact, multinational project team dedicated to optimizing Transportation Logistics Procurement activities within the critical Material Supply Chain for all Daimler Truck entities across USMCA. This role will enable you to drive cost-effective, efficient solutions by managing and refining the transportation service budget for both DTNA and DVCM. You will collaborate with leading carriers and service providers to deliver innovative, seamless inbound and outbound freight network solutions who utilize our amazing Freightliner and Western Star vehicles equipped with Daimler Truck technology.

The Transportation Procurement team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Daimler Truck’s North American operations maintain a robust, competitive and cost-efficient transportation network. By aligning with best-in-class carriers and service providers, we strive to optimize the logistics process and create value for the business.

Indispensable Requirements (Candidates who do not meet these requirements may be discarded):

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.  Ability to organize and summarize large data sets.
  •  Contractual knowledge and business acumen required..  Ability to influence stakeholder alignments & multiple business  units.
  •  High level of inter-cultural intelligence and people skills. required.
  • Transportation, Logistics and/or Purchasing experience required.
  • Knowledge of OEM vehicle manufacturing and related markets preferred.
  • Self-directed, able to operate independently with business professionalism and strong ethics.
  • English level: Advanced C1

Main Functions:

  • Primary suporte of the procurement and optimization of the transportation supply chains used for delivery of production and aftermarket parts in the North America Region.
  • Execute the goals and milestones of the work projects, including but not limited to planning, procurement and contract management for transportation logistics services at TT/GN7-3.
  • Support the purchasing of transportation services in all aspects including, but not limited to, conceptual development, data gathering and validation, creation of tender specifications, bidder list creation, tendering and negotiation with transportation service providers, alignment of recommendations, decision process support with steering committee/top management presentations, contract management, ramp up.
  • Align transportation logistics concepts, strategies, and savings initiatives with the different Daimler Truck North America entities.
  • Provide information about status of project goals and milestones, including the financial transparency and reporting to forecast and control transportation costs.  Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities within the team.
  • Support the realization of initiatives in cross-BU project teams in all aspects including, but not limited to, project planning with goal definition and milestone setting, close collaboration and alignment with business unit logistics operations, proactive management of expectations with business award partners, and CI development.
  • Manage the creation of new contracts through systems applications for US, MX and CAN business divisions, including legal alignment, until final approval and sign off.
  • Transportation market economic research through trend indexing, industry media publications, governmental reference data, leadership and supplier forums, and internal business reports.
