Cost Engineer - Proprietary parts

As a Cost Engineer you have to be an expert in creating cost transparency by providing zero-based costing. During concept phase of project, your estimations will be used for business decisions. Once the design gets mature and during awarding, you have to provide detailed costing for settle the parts and tool cost at the best. Innovative thinking and outline levers for cost optimization and drive implementation during series phase to improved material cost efficiency

  • Estimation skill set, Zero based costing of any of below components.
    • Engine parts ( 5C Parts , Turbocharger, Oil pump, compressor)
    • Axle , suspension & other vehicle casting parts
    • Precision machining ( CNC, VMC, HMC, CTL )
  • Defining the process flow & Tooling requirement knowledge related to Non ferrous , Ferrous, Proprietary parts
  • Part profile , Undercut study & core feasibility requirement
  • Casting type (Sand, Investment, shell molding, chill casting) with respect to profile, Machine selection, volume, charge mix preparation based on raw material.
  • Parting line selection on top side with minimum length , core seating study for yield & rejection improvement
  • core process section based on involute path with geometry ( cold / hot box)
  • Operation wise no of headcount , Process or product layout feasibility study   based on volume & cost impact
  • Process & Tooling development Knowledge in Pattern, core box, machining fixture
  • Very much updated market knowledge on RM rates, grades and suppliers
  • Good knowledge of in house / supplier manufacturing process, MHR, Cycle time, estimation methods & testing requirements.
  • No of cavity, pattern selection (core, self-core) w.r.t material, machine selection.
