Transmission - Design & calibration engineer

Divisional Manager – Transmission Design & Calibration

 

Technical skill set:

  • In-Depth knowledge of all components of a Transmission & their functions

  • Design & development experience of Gears, Bearings, Synchronizers, Shifting system & Housings

  • Design & development of Proprietary Transmission parts with suppliers

  • Defining new concepts / layouts for Transmission Sub-systems

  • Selection of a transmission for a vehicle based on performance calculations & considering B10 Life

  • Exposure to 3D Modelling softwares, KISSsoft, ROMAX, CAE Softwares

  • Expertise in defining the GD&T on drawings for transmission components

  • Expertise in performing DFMEA of all Transmission components & Overall Aggregate

  • DVP definition along with Testing team on both Bench & Vehicle level

  • In-Depth Knowledge of Manufacturing process, Materials used & Metrology of Transmission parts

  • Experience in prototype development for different parts of transmission

  • Setting Performance & Reliability targets for Gear box components

  • Interpretation of Bench test results & B10 Life calculations for components & Aggregate

  • Apply statistical tools to estimate the Reliability of Aggregate / Component

  • Strong expertise on Failure investigation, Root Cause analysis and countermeasure implementation

  • Experience in Root cause analysis & Solution implementation of Field failures

  • Technical support to production team to solve concerns

  • Idea generation, Design Release, Validation & Implementation of Cost & Weight Reduction measures

  • Experience in AMT Calibration & Shift Maps

  • Knowledge of CAN communications, architecture and usage of softwares CANAPE / CANoe

  • Experience in evaluating AMT performance & Features on vehicle level

Soft skill set:

  • Effective communication & Strong presentation skills to convey complex technical aspects in a simple way to stakeholders and Leadership team

  • Strong Project management skills – Bring Structure and clarity on the overall milestones to steer projects, adhere to timelines, Sensitize Risks & Provide mitigation plans

  • Ability to work independently without guidance

  • Harmonious interactions with CFT members building trust and confidence

  • Strong focus on Quality & End Customer requirements while taking any technical decisions

  • Interaction with Global counterparts with multi-cultural backgrounds

  • Willingness for global travels for project requirements

  • Demonstrate End to end ownership of a project from inception to its implementation

  • Coaching Young engineers within the team
