Job Overview
To assist in carrying out basic maintenance and repair of vehicles in compliance to the Company's Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E. requirements Delegation of Authority and organisational processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance support:
- Ensure work that is carried out is authorised by relevant stakeholders.
- Meet DTSA minimum standard for repairs and services conducted as minimum standard by applying technical skills productive and efficiently.
- Manage the storage process for used vehicle - cycled battery maintenance.
- Seek supervisory support and advice if and when necessary, during repairs; ensure that the jump-start battery trolleys and golf cart batteries are charged regularly. Report on visual defects on vehicles in stock.
Customer service:
- Ensure utmost care is taken of TruckStore vehicles and property.
- Ensure TruckStore care standards are met at all times.
- TruckStore N14 Sales manager (Site Leader) of any delays.
- Apply quality workmanship and at all times.
- Ensure all work is carried out according to DTSA quality standards.
- Secure used parts that have been replaced and ensure availability to TruckStore for inspection.
Administration and cost control:
- Conduct fault finding and report to relevant stakeholders.
- Adhere to DTSA warranty, maintenance and dealer standards.
- Record all material usage accurately.
- Ensure utmost care is taken during service and/or repair of vehicles to avoid any damage to vehicles and components.
- Minimize wastage of all materials, oils and fluids.
- Manage the parts and tool lock-up on site and keep accurate stock count.
Housekeeping, Statutory and SHE adherence:
- Ensure the correct tools and equipment are used as per DTSA repair instructions, used correctly and the necessary care is taken to avoid abuse thereof.
- Maintain and secure hand tools provided as prescribed DTSA guidelines.
- Maintain good housekeeping principles at all times.
- Ensure work bay is neat and organised at all times.
- Comply with and adhere to all applicable SHE and other statutory requirements at all times.
- Familiarize and comply with all applicable company policies and procedures.
- Grade 12 (Mathematics, Physical Science & English) / N2 Certificate.
- Valid Code 14 License and PDRP.
Experience:
- A minimum of diesel mechanic apprentice with training completed up to Level 3, gaining hands-on experience in maintenance, diagnostics, and/or repair of diesel engines.
Special Knowledge:
- Basic technical and product knowledge of commercial vehicles.
- Communication skills.

Computer literacy (Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Power Point).
