Job Description: Architect –GSAM
1. Role Overview
The GSAM Architect will lead the global software asset management architecture for Daimler Truck, ensuring end‑to‑end governance of enterprise licensing, compliance, cross‑charging frameworks, and optimization across all Daimler Truck. The role requires deep expertise in software licensing, SAM governance, and FNMS/Flexera‑based enterprise tooling.
This position is critical for establishing a global operating model for licensing teams and ensuring commercial, operational, and financial efficiency across the software lifecycle.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Licensing & SAM Architecture
- Design and own the architecture of enterprise SAM solutions including FNMS/Flexera, Power BI‑based dashboards, and automation workflows.
- Establish global license management frameworks: procurement mapping, allocation, reservation, renewals, reclamation programs, and audit readiness.
- Govern licensing for publishers such as Microsoft (E5, Power BI, Power Platform), SAP Signavio, Adobe, Visual Studio, IBM, Oracle, VMware, Think‑Cell, Engineering apps, etc.
B. Cross‑Charging & Cost Management
- Define and manage cross‑charging models for enterprise licenses based on consumption, entitlement usage, and department cost allocation.
- Partner with Finance & Controlling teams to ensure transparency and accuracy of license cost attribution.
- Set up chargeback dashboards, automate consumption reporting, and ensure compliance with corporate financial policies.
C. Governance & Compliance
- Build and enforce SAM governance standards including policy frameworks, audit controls, license lifecycle processes, and vendor‑related compliance requirements.
- Lead end‑to‑end vendor audits and ensure remediation measures, entitlement accuracy, and reconciliation integrity.
- Drive security and compliance alignment with enterprise tools and ITIL‑based processes.
D. Operational & Technical Leadership
- Set up and lead the global GSAM team, including defining operating models, responsibilities, workflows, and process maturity.
- Oversee automation initiatives for license allocation (e.g., ServiceNow → Power Automate workflows).
- Support engineering, infra, and workplace teams for integration of SAM processes into operational ecosystems.
E. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, platform owners, procurement, finance, and global IT leadership to align licensing strategy with business goals.
- Lead negotiation strategies with vendors to optimize contract value and minimize risk.
- Represent DTICI in global GSAM forums and cross‑functional working groups.
3. Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Hands‑on experience with FNMS/Flexera (FNMS On‑Prem / SaaS).
- Deep understanding of enterprise licensing models (Microsoft, SAP, IBM, Oracle, Adobe, VMware, etc.).
- Strong expertise in cross‑charging methodologies, showback/chargeback, and cost allocation models.
- Experience with SAM operations, entitlement management, audits, and compliance.
- Familiarity with tooling ecosystem: Power Automate, Power BI, SNOW, Signavio, Visual Studio licensing, etc.
