Cost and ICS Controller

Sitting within our Finance and Controlling team here at Daimler Trucks UK, we have an exciting Cost and ICS Controller opportunity waiting just for you. Reporting into the Head of Controlling, you will play a pivotal role within the Controlling department to ensure effective financial planning, control, and governance of fixed costs across the business. This includes regulation of fixed cost budgets, ensuring compliance through accurate coding and PR approvals, and delivering timely reporting and analysis to support strategic decision-making. The role also manages internal control submissions, supports audit readiness, and collaborates with departments to maintain strong financial discipline and transparency.

Fixed Cost Budget Control
Lead the analysis and control of Truck fixed cost budgets, ensuring accurate tracking by cost centre and general ledger codes. This includes preparation and review of accruals and budget performance against plan. Approve purchase requisitions (PRs) for correct coding and compliance with budgetary controls, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting.

Monthly Reporting & KPI Tracking
Deliver timely and accurate monthly performance reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) agreed with Truck management. Provide insights into cost trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decision-making.

Month-End Financial Processes
Prepare and process monthly accruals, prepayments, recharges (invoices and journals), and provisions. Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations for G&A and Marketing costs across all business streams.

Budgeting & Forecasting
Deliver the annual budgeting process and regular re-forecasts for all G&A including Marketing. Ensuring budgets are developed and managed in alignment with Management and HQ. Adhering to internal planning timelines, applying zero-based budgeting techniques where appropriate to drive cost efficiency and transparency.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cost Challenge
Conduct monthly reviews with budget holders to discuss actuals and forecasts. Provide financial guidance, challenge variances and spending patterns, and support cost control efforts to ensure FOH budgets remain within or below target.

Internal Control System (ICS) Management
Oversee the end-to-end ICS submission process , ensuring all control requirements are met in line with internal policies and external audit/compliance standards. This includes timely and accurate submission of all ICS documentation to HQ.

About you

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline 

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) 

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in cost controlling or financial planning 

  • Strong forecasting and financial data analysis skills

  • Zero Base Budgeting Experience

  • Advanced Excel, Power Pivot, Power Query, Power BI, Power Automate, SAP & SAC(Cloud) including CO-PA and FI Modules

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders 

  • Confident in engaging and constructively challenging stakeholders at all levels, including senior management 

  • Knowledge of the automotive or motor industry an advantage

This is a full time hybrid role, where you would be required to work form our head office based in Milton Keynes a minimum of two days a week in the office.
