Seeking a highly experienced Bus Body Engineer with a strong background in bus body structure design, development, and advisory services. The ideal candidate will bring over a decade of hands-on experience in structural engineering, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative bus body solutions
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, analysis, and validation of bus body structures, ensuring compliance with safety, durability, and regulatory standards (AIS, CMVR, etc.).
- Provide technical advisory support to internal teams and external stakeholders on structural design, material selection, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Provide technical clearances for Bus Bodies built at accredited body builders, as per the internal BBA guidelines and report the findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including chassis engineering, electrical, HVAC, and manufacturing to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, 3D models, and structural simulations (durability, crashworthiness, etc.).
- Drive cost optimization and weight reduction initiatives without compromising structural integrity or safety.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for structural issues in field or production.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new materials, and technologies in bus body engineering.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge-sharing initiatives across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering/ automotive engineering.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in bus body design and structural engineering.
- Strong knowledge of bus body regulations, homologation requirements, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar) and Exposure to FEA software (ANSYS, Simsolid, HyperMesh, etc.).
- Experience in working with OEMs or body builders is a plus.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Attributes:
- Exposure to electric or hybrid bus platforms.
- Experience in lightweight material applications (aluminum, composites).
- Ability to lead design reviews, audits, and technical workshops at Body Builder /Dealership Facilities.
