Inside the Role
A vital team member with responsibility for international tax matters, including tax return preparation, audits, and assessments primarily relating to Daimler Truck’s Canadian financial services and treasury entities. This position also assists in the US international reporting and compliance needs of the larger Daimler Truck Group (FDDEI, NCTI, BEAT, FTC, 1042, 5471, 5472). Canadian responsibilities include Canadian income tax and indirect tax compliance (GST/HST, PST, and QST). Prior Canadian tax experience is preferred but not required. The position also plays a key role in timely responding to tax questions from customer service and technology solution groups. Additional responsibilities include providing support for related audits and implementing tax savings opportunities where applicable.Posting Information

Responsibilities
Prepare Canadian income tax returns and work papers in an accurate and timely manner.
Calculate and remit monthly income tax installments when required.
Work to minimize Canadian taxes and maximize cash flow.
Timely prepare and file monthly and quarterly Canadian GST/HST, PST, QST tax returns and remittances.
Monitor, trouble shoot, and reconcile direct and indirect tax accounts with business activity and tax compliance.
Ensure tax payments are made on a timely basis to avoid interest and penalties.
Assist in US international reporting and compliance (FDDEI, NCTI, BEAT, FTC, 1042, 5471, 5472).
Coordinate and assist in tax audits, including meeting with auditors and responding to auditor information requests.
Communicate tax law changes relating to financial services to management and recommend appropriate actions to limit exposures.
Serve as the key person in the organization to provide information to other departments within the company regarding Canadian direct and indirect taxes.
Recommend and implement process improvements for compliance and tax accounting services.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills Experience)
Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related degree from an accredited college/university OR 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree required
3-5 years of increasingly complex corporate tax compliance experience required
Ability to effectively communicate with management and outside business advisors and government agencies required
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, multi-task oriented with a strong customer focus, and exceptional organizational skills required
Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)
Experience with Canadian Corporate Income Tax and Goods and Services Tax preferred
Experience with US International Tax reporting and compliance preferred
Previous experience with TaxPrep, CorpTax, and SAP preferred
2 years in public accounting preferred
CPA Preferred
