Position offers an annual salary of $134,441.

What You Drive at DTNA
- Translate battery cell and module engineering requirements, develop process and automatic equipment requirements for equipment automation builders such as welding, laser cleaning, proper activation, glue dispensing, cell compression. Translate battery connection/termination requirements for example welding, retention and porosity and develop process and automatic equipment specs for the equipment automation builders. Develop feedback loop with engineering to do multiple POD and DMU evaluations prior to final design. Work with laser weld supplier to develop proper processes to perform and prove engineering requirements. Find appropriate cell preparation equipment suppliers, which deliver equipment to our requirements and global project needs. Review mechanical drawings and give sign-off to suppliers and coordinate cross-function sign-off of other technical systems. Develop qualification parts plan to prove equipment functionality. Independent project team lead with production, maintenance, product engineering, quality and suppliers. Ensure compliance with government regulations, safety standards and high voltage requirements. Track equipment suppliers to plan, create proper action when suppliers get off track, track progress and prepare cross function validation and qualification trips to suppliers. Review mechanical drawings and give sign-off to suppliers and coordinate cross function sign-off of other technical systems (i.e. electrical, pneumatic, facilities). Develop qualification parts plan to prove equipment functionality at supplier’s site and home plant. Plan and implement supplier’s equipment within the facility. Track equipment commissioning at the plant and find proper action / reaction plans to keep start-up timeline. Create and track start-up plans to track to project KPI’s and managing and driving open item closure with suppliers. Track and drive supplier delivery to standard specification books. Network and work within an international planning team. Potentially 10-20 weeks of international travel per year. Lead the design and development of systems and continuous improvements. Independently applies processes and standards to the needs and progress of projects. Responsible for funding planning and tracking of complex over-arching projects based on Daimler standard project funding principles (CAPEX, NRE, EA1, EA2, and OP). Proactively manage and adopt spending plans as needed to meet cost targets. Able to identify shortfalls in projects or tasks and independently develop counter-measures, resolutions and implement effectiveness. Independently utilize the appropriate project management tools for your project / task. Independently provide engineering expertise and project lead in integrating equipment, systems, materials, facilities, and processes into a cohesive, cost efficient and production manufacturing system. Independently lead project teams with production, maintenance, product engineering, quality, suppliers, etc. Independently promotes continuous improvements and actively screens markets and implements. Independently suggest and implements product or process design modifications, where applicable and make process, tooling, fixtures, or assembly recommendations, including budget estimates as part of the review process. Schedule time according to established job priorities. Monitor work progress and resolves problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects. Effectively work with hourly and skilled trades union workers. Provide management with regular reports / presentations on project work plans and status for information and resource management purposes. Professionally represent ME and actively participate in CVDS and PPR projects.
Knowledge You Should Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related.
6 years of experience in Assembly line or planning.
Must have 3 years of Project management or supervisory experience.
Must have experience with: measurement, automation, torque and press technologies for Battery pack assembly processes and equipment; high voltage and electrical systems local laws and regulations; fastening equipment, dispense system as well as testing technologies such as end of line, sniffing leak test and pressure decay test systems; developing PFMEA along with master control plans; safety and emergency concepts for thermal containments and fire hazards; project management, leading international projects and teams; performing multiple complex projects by using CVDS process; manual and automatic assembly processes; new product launches or machine retrofits; and process modifications, improvements, and waste elimination.
- Domestic and international travel is required, as needed, up to 25% per year.
