Senior Data Analyst

Inside the Role

The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for driving the data analytics and domain strategy at DTFS. This includes consulting with business areas on business information needs, translating business needs into analytics/BI requirements, developing the analytics/BI solution and interfacing with the business area to ensure successful customer outcomes. The Senior BI Analyst position is a Lead within the team and will include mentorship, training, and direction of other BI and contractors within the team. This position also serves as data steward and advanced technical support for supported business areas and is responsible for driving the future state of the digital strategy for the data domain. This position will also create/maintain technical design documentation to ensure capture of relevant meta data in support of the data management domain

What You Drive

  • The position will support the management reporting needs of business areas in both U.S. and Canada.  Travel time is estimated at no more than 5%.  In depth knowledge of the availability of data beyond the US in DWH, OPI/KPI metrics, and an understanding of the portability of US metrics to other markets is required.
  • Data Insights Solution Development and Customer Support - using various BI and Visualization tools, work with business areas to provide leadership on independent initiatives, facilitate information gathering, develop structured documentation, and present findings to all levels of management. Develop/maintain dashboards, analytics, and other data visualizations that provide business insight. This includes gathering and analyzing requirements from business users and developing BI solutions. This includes advanced support for SQL/reports/End User Computing (EUC) applications for internal customers.  Collaborate with IT partners and business partners in support of month end processes where applicable.
  • Data Mart and Cognos Framework Design - This role may include the Data Mart design and Cognos Framework Management. If so, this position will manage the framework for the reporting environment. Architect and model existing data to be easily consumed by customers and reports. Optimize performance of BI solutions through working with ETL and DBA resources.
  • Data stewardship – Partner with the business, IT, and the DIAA to drive the BI environment to meet future business needs. Work with business SMEs to identify and close existing data gaps in the BI environment. Develops and writes business information requirements for the changes to the BI landscape.  Analyze and assess impacts to the data warehouse and BI landscape for key project initiatives. Collaborate with IT partners to translate business requirements into technical specifications for IT supported system solutions.
  • Project management - Lead EPM and Data Domain owned projects. Drive data management domain initiatives and projects to assess impact to BI domain. Meet project schedules, identify potential issues and develop workarounds as needed to ensure continuity of BI solutions.
  • Data Preparation/Ad Hoc BI Support - Develop and maintain curated data sets needed to support the Advanced Analytics group use cases. Provide advanced technical support to the business analysts as needed using various BI tools including usage review and performance tuning.  Support the business as necessary to clear audit/compliance conditions.
  • Strategy/BI Governance: Contribute to the short- and long-term strategic approach for the Data Domain. As new technology and tools are identified, support the development of strategy for associated BI products, models, visualizations, governance, etc.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • BS/BA and prefer 5-7 years of relevant experience or 8 years of experience in Data, Analytics, and Reporting in lieu of degree.
  • 3 years of experience working in Data, Analytics, and reporting.
  • 3 years of experience working with SQL(specifically building reports and preparing data).
  • Knowledge in Data Visualization, Reporting.
  • Experience working with Structured Data stored in a RDBMS.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer/Information Science, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related field.
  • Experience with Python, SAS Programming, Alteryx, AI, Cognos Analytics, Cognos Framework, Cognos Transformer, Tableau, MS Power BI, Data Management and Governance, Finance (automotive industry).
